বন্ধ হলো ভারতীয় চাল আমদানি
বেনাপোল বন্দরে পাঁচ মাসে ২১ হাজার ৩৬০ টন চাল আমদানি
মনির হোসেন বেনাপোল, যশোরের বেনাপোল বন্দর দিয়ে ভারতীয় চাল আমদানি বন্ধ করেছে বাংলাদেশ সরকার। তবে গত পাঁচ মাসে এই বন্দর দিয়ে ২১ হাজার ৩৬০ টন চাল আমদানি হয়েছে। সর্বশেষ ১৩ এপ্রিল রাত সাড়ে ৯টা পর্যন্ত ২০০ টন চাল আমদানি হয়।
এতদিন দেশের বাজারে চালের দাম স্বাভাবিক রাখতে আমদানির সুযোগ দিয়েছিল সরকার। গত বছরের ১৭ নভেম্বর ৯২ আমদানিকারককে দুই লাখ ৭৩ হাজার টন সেদ্ধ এবং এক লাখ ১৯ হাজার টন আতপ চাল আমদানির অনুমতি দেয়া হয়।
প্রথমে সরকারঘোষিত আমদানির মেয়াদ শেষ হয় গত বছরের ২২ ডিসেম্বর। আশানুরূপ চাল আমদানি না হওয়ায় পর পর ৪ দফা সময় বাড়ানো হয়। যার সবশেষ মঙ্গলবার খাদ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের নির্দেশে বন্ধ করা হয়।
তবে যে চাল আমদানি হয়েছে তার মধ্যে মোটা চাল প্রতি টন ৩৯০-৪০০ মার্কিন ডলার, চিকন চাল প্রতি টন ৪৫০-৪৭০ ডলার মূল্যে আমদানি হয়। কাস্টমস কর্তৃপক্ষ শুল্কমুক্ত সুবিধায় এ চাল খালাস দেয়। পরবর্তী নির্দেশ না দেওয়া পর্যন্ত এখন আর চাল আমদানি করতে পারবেন না ব্যবসায়ীরা।
আমদানিকারক আলাউদ্দিন জানান, সরকারি চুক্তি অনুযায়ী ১৫ এপ্রিল চাল আমদানির শেষ সময় ছিল। আমার এখনো ওপারে এক হাজার টন চাল দেশে প্রবেশের অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে।
আরেক চাল আমদানিকারক মো. মোশাররফ হোসেন জানান, বেনাপোল বন্দর থেকে আমদানিকৃত মোটা চাল প্রতি কেজি ৫৩ টাকা, চিকন চাল ৬৫-৭২ টাকা দরে পাইকারি বাজারে বিক্রি করা হচ্ছে।
বেনাপোল বন্দরের পরিচালক (ট্রাফিক) শামীম হোসেন বলেন, খাদ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের নির্দেশনায় মঙ্গলবার থেকে বেনাপোল বন্দর দিয়ে চাল আমদানি বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে। পরবর্তী নির্দেশনা না আসা পর্যন্ত ভারত থেকে চাল আমদানি বন্ধ থাকবে।
বেনাপোল কাস্টমস কমিশনার মো. কামরুজ্জামান জানান, চাল আমদানির বর্ধিত চতুর্থ ধাপের সর্বশেষ সময় ছিল ১৫ এপ্রিল পর্যন্ত। গত ৫ মাসে বেনাপোল বন্দর দিয়ে ২১ হাজার ৩৬০ চাল আমদানি হয়।
