প্লাস্টিক দূষণ আর নয়, বন্ধ করার এখনি সময়” – এই প্রতিপাদ্যকে সামনে রেখে দিনাজপুরের বীরগঞ্জে হতদরিদ্র শিশুদের মাঝে বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচী হিসেবে চারা বিতরণ করা হয়েছে।
গতকাল শনিবার (১২ জুলাই) বিকেলে বীরগঞ্জ পৌরসভা ও সুজালপুর ইউনিয়নের শিশু ও যুব ফোরাম এবং ইমপ্যাক্ট প্লাসের সদস্যদের সম্মিলিত উদ্যোগে এ বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচী পালন করেছে। পরিবেশ রক্ষায় নিজেদের দায়বদ্ধতা থেকে এই সদস্যরা প্রায় ৫০টি লেবুর চারা এবং ৫০টি পেয়ারা চারা হতদরিদ্র শিশুদের মাঝে বিতরণ করেন।
এই মহতী কর্মসূচী বীরগঞ্জ পৌরসভার ৫, ৬ ও ৯ নং ওয়ার্ড এবং ছোট শীতলাই গ্রামে সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। কর্মসূচীর লক্ষ্য ছিল শিশুদের মধ্যে পরিবেশ সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং তাদের মাধ্যমে বৃক্ষরোপণের গুরুত্ব ছড়িয়ে দেওয়া।
বীরগঞ্জ যুব ফোরাম এর সভাপতি মোঃ নুরনবী ইসলাম বলেন, বৃক্ষ যে আমাদের পরিবেশের জন্য অপরিহার্য, তা বলাই বাহুল্য। পরিবেশের ভারসাম্য রক্ষায় বৃক্ষের ভূমিকা অনস্বীকার্য। গাছপালা একদিকে যেমন অক্সিজেন সরবরাহ করে, তেমনি অন্যদিকে কার্বন ডাই অক্সাইড শোষণ করে বায়ু দূষণ রোধে সহায়তা করে। পরিবেশের ধ্বংস মানেই আমাদের নিজেদের অস্তিত্বের সংকট। এই পৃথিবী কেবল আমাদের আবাসস্থল নয়, এটি আমাদের শিকড়। কর্মসূচীর উদ্যোক্তারা সকলের প্রতি আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন, গাছ লাগিয়ে, দূষণ রোধ করে এবং প্লাস্টিকের ব্যবহার পরিহার করে একটি সুন্দর ও নিরাপদ ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ে তোলার জন্য।
এই ব্যতিক্রমী এবং অনুপ্রেরণামূলক উদ্যোগের জন্য বীরগঞ্জ এপি ওয়ার্ল্ড ভিশন বাংলাদেশকে ধন্যবাদ জানানো হয়েছে। বৃক্ষরোপণ সম্পর্কে শিশু ও যুবকদের উৎসাহিত করায় তাদের ভূমিকা অত্যন্ত প্রশংসনীয়। এই ধরনের উদ্যোগ আগামী প্রজন্মের জন্য একটি সবুজ ও সুস্থ পৃথিবী নিশ্চিত করতে সহায়ক হবে।
